Nav Screen Keeps crashing

HI there i have a 2016 DS4 crossback, all of a sudden my car's nav screen keeps crashing and rebooting itself. some days the problems goes and have full functionality without issues, but the majority of the time it constantly keeps crashing. I have tried the mapping update, disconnecting the battery for a while to maybe reset the system but no luck yet. any ideas how to fix this situation myself if possible will help. Spoken to DS and been told will cost around £170 for someone just to look at the problem and would like to avoid paying for something i hope is an easy fix.

What firmware are you on? My 2015 Crossback used to have the same issues and Citroen updated to the latest firmware (attached)

I thought as much, SMEG6.1.D.R19 is the firmware i'm on, last updated 2015. Would i be charged for getting this updated by DS? as i assume there is nothing i can do myself to fix the problem

Mine was done under warranty so no charge so wouldn’t know to be honest, I know that once they did the update they also activated CarPlay as that wasn’t enabled when I first got the car.

I’d speak to a few garages and see what they say on cost for doing the update, you never know you might get a friendly one who does it for free 🤞🏽

This is a quote from another Citroen forum. I’m not sure if his was a DS4.

“Came home and found update to download myself and managed to update from version SMEG5.4.B.R8 to SMEG5.43.A.R2. Found it easy to do only problem it didn't tell me completed so I actually did it twice. It goes through 6 stages and restarts at the end before going back to normal screen. Have tried it for a week now and no restarts. Was restarting every 2-3 minutes before.”

My local dealer done mine for just over £50 + vat.
