Just wondering, is it something to do with the car or just insurance prices in general?

My renewal was double (which is not unusual so I always shop around), however this time, shopping around the cheapest I can get is still 50% higher than what I'm paying now.

Nothing else has changed. I know they like to try it on but that's taking the mick...or has the cost of insurance gone through the roof across the board?

Has this happened to anyone else?

I changed from a 12 year old 307 Pug to my DS4 and my insurance dropped 50%.
I'm sure the age of the Pug had a lot to do with the premium in the end.

Loving my DS4 DSport - 1.6 THP160, EAT6 speed auto, Blanc Nacre

Just had my renewal reminder.. what a shock ! gone up by 25%..
This after getting a tiny refund for the past 2 months when I changed from C4 to a DS4

Done the shopping around thing.. only one came close , others were up to 50% increase..WHY ?
Have to be real careful too.. many things are now deemed 'extras' and chargeable..so the cheapest does not even give me the cover I already have..

Maximum no claims bonus.. no claims.. multiple policy discount, etc etc.

Queried with insurer.. who simply said nothing you have done , insurance generally has gone up due to claims/ area/ type of car and the risks their system projects..
The fact that everyone else is quoting even higher premium, would suggest its a general issue..

I anticipated a slight increase for a better / newer / more expensive car.. but 25%+ is taking the pee..
Regrettably a necessary evil, insurance.. but I can't help feeling ripped off.

Am I alone.. or have other DS4 owners getting increases too ?

Probably an increase in claims in your area, which bumps your risk profile up, which bumps up your premium, and all that guff.

Have you tried the insurers you don't get on comparison sites?
For example the big two, Aviva and Direct Line, as well as brokers like Chris Knott and Adrian Flux.
Always worth a shot.

Previously: 2011 CitroŽn DS4 DSport THP 200 - Babylon Red

Quite often they'll drop it back down if they think you'll go elsewhere. I have to phone and haggle every year. I've got 5 cars insured with admiral, just about £1100 with multicar, and by far the largest is for my son who's only 18

Is it keyless, perhaps they've started taking notice of the press reports about keyless systems.
Have you tried Chris Knott. I'm with them at the moment (but did leave for a previous year). My renewal isn't until October so I'll have to wait and see.

Previous Citroens, GS Hatch, GS Estate, DS Special, GSA Hatch, BX, Xantia & C4 1.6 Petrol 05 SX Hatchback. Now DS4 Prestige 210.(2016)
