Hi,

I have just purchased the ds4 thp 200 it's a 2012 model. I have noticed a couple of things since buying it that I don't think are right. Firstly when driving the vehicle steady at about 2000 revs it seems to judder, not always but it's noticeable and driving me mad! I cant quite explain it it's like it's missing or something it just will not drive smooth but if you accelerate past 2000 revs it's fine, I have been back to a dealer and explained the problem any they said yesterday they had fixed it but within five mins of being back in the car it did it again. I feel like I'm going crazy as they can't find any other faults and there are no warning lights!! Secondly when the car is cold it sound awful if you put your foot down. It sounds like the exhaust is rattling but I've had this checked and its not it gets better when the car is warm but is still noticeable sometimes. Has anyone else had a similar experience and if so what helped to fix it! Sorry for the long post but I am at my wits end and being a stupid woman the garage seem to be fobbing me off but I am sure this isnt right :-(((( any comments will be greatly received

Take it back , it shouldn't be doing any of those things . I don't know but could the rattling be caused by the engine shaking about when it's juddering . Good luck anyway

Gembrad-my juddering was caused by the front brake discs which were replaced under warranty. After it was changed no more juddering. Perhaps also check the tyre balancing.
Cheers

I agree with ajdar the tyres not balanced seems the most likely cause of wheel wobble at a certain speed. If it was discs or suspension it would happen across a much wider range. At certain speed is classic balancing.
With all the potholes around a good thud could knock both balance and tracking off - especially if you have the low profile tyres, this will cause excessive wear so get them checked.

Thank you all so much for the replies, I have had the wheels checked as you all suggested and they were all perfect :-((. Plus I've had all the brakes checked and they said they were all new so not that either aggghhhhh. Now booked back into citroen on Tuesday for further investigation on the juddering and rattling when accelerating! I just hope they can find something but any more suggestions are very welcome as I have no idea what I am doing with cars lol

gembrad 13 - the 'juddering' i refered to was felt on the steering wheel shaking. When the warped front discs were replaced the problem went away. The mileage then was less then 5000kmI knew 3 other cases who experienced the same thing.

Hi guys,

Just an update the rattling when accelerating is now fixed :) engineer had to put some foam around a piece of the exhaust that was making the noise and its now gone. They think that the juddering is a fault with the turbo so have ordered new parts to be put in on Friday fingers crossed it works And I will be one very happy lady :)

The saga continues!!! The rattling is now back and louder than ever! The dealership has tried to tell me the juddering/missing is totally normal for my model as its where the turbo kicks in! Total fob off as I have test drove an identical car and it most certainly didn't do it, my argument is how can it be normal to drive down a road with a car that stutters!!! And now to top it off after having the car from Friday morning to Monday evening I got in it this morning and drove approx 2 miles before all the warning lights started going off telling me to stop the engine!! When I did Get home the fan was on overdrive very very loud for approx ten mins, I could seriously cry and I officially hate citroen cars I am debating driving it into a brick wall!!!!!! Back in tomorrow to be looked at again :-((((

Don't chuck in the towel just yet.

If possible could you not try another dealer (Citroen) and see what their take on it is. The car is brand new and there is absolutely no reason for anything to be juddering. No car (that is working) judders.

Ask to take one/all of their display/demo cars to prove it is 'simply' the turbo kicking in. I have owned many turbo'd cars and the only thing that was in common was my arse getting planted into the seat, my grip on the wheel get tighter and the smile on my face get bigger.

The only juddering was the GF/Wife bouncing in her seat.

If warning lights have come on then they should be coming to get it as it doesn't sound like it should be driven??

Take it back to the dealer and say I want a new one.

I hope you get it sorted, don't let it rest as 'the norm'!!

Update, garage called yesterday and its the temp sensor that has a fault apparantly so they have ordered a new part to be fitted today, I am assuming the rattling will still be there and the stuttering so I am gearing up ready for an argument, just trying to find another model just like mine so I can test drive that too then I can argue I have test drove 2 other cars and they do not have the same stuttering.

Drained is an understatement! Was very upset yesterday as I had to fetch my little boy from school he had a sickness bug and I had to walk him over a mile home throwing up!! I just thought that's it this usually calm
Individual has hit breaking point!! No more being nice for me!

Gembrad13 stay with it, I have exactly the same car and no rattling or juddering when the turbo kicks in or out.

Dont let them fob you off, if necessary contact Citroen themselves

Sounds like they are trying to feed a load of C**p

Thanks for your replies guys, the rattling and juddering are the least of my worries at the moment!! The car had a new temp sensor fitted last Friday, it drove ok ish over the weekend then bang Monday morning the temp gauge was flashing telling me to add coolant, went straight to asda to buy some opened the bonnet and it was already at max level.... So I booked in Tuesday for it to be looked at at citroen garage they put it on machine to diagnose the problem and the car was leaking fluid and overheating = not safe to drive aggggghhhhhhhhh give me a [email protected]@king break! Excuse my language but I am seriously at breaking point!!! They have had the car all day yesterday and today and still don't know what's wrong with the heap of crap!! I'm just off to but a jerry can and a box of matches for when it's eventually returned, I've owned the car less that 2 months and its spent 16 days in the garage so far biggest mistake I've ever made my Peugeot 308 vti was a dream compared to this, looks great drives fast but doesn't work for more than a couple of days!!

Gutted :-(((

Gembrad13 - My car faced the same issue before. After changing the temp sensor the temp warning light came out but the coolant was at optimum level. The hoses were in perfect working order.
After i changed the fuse box which was under MTW recall campaign and since then no more problem with either fast draining coolant or temp warning sign on dashbord. It seem the original fuse box 'misread' the new temp sensor and therefore the false temp warning sign lit up.

Please check with your dealer for a new fuse box.

Well I have finally got the car back the fault with the temp sensor appears to be fixed but the rattling and juddering are still there!!! I am at a loss what to do next, the car has been seen in a Citroen garage and they are telling me nothing is wrong with it and its totally normal, I am currently scouring the net to try to find a Citroen specialist to see if they agree with this, I don't see how as I have test drove another vehicle identical to mine and it didn't do any of this! My next step is to approach the finance company to see if they will support my decision to try to return the car for a replacement after all I have owned the car 55 days and its spent 17 days of that in a garage for various problems, I know I am probably clutching at straws but one can live in hope
Failing that I am going to set the thing on fire as this car has caused more upset than I could even imagine
