Are there any others out there towing with their 4 ?<div style="line-height: 16.8px; : rgb248, 248, 252;">

<div style="line-height: 16.8px; : rgb248, 248, 252;">We have just added aDSportto our 'stable' and will be touring with our classic caravan in a couple of months. All of our cars (1989 to date) have used strap on mirrors to extend the standard door mirror visibility but the 4 have mirrors so large that come with their own Post Code.

<div style="line-height: 16.8px; : rgb248, 248, 252;">If you tow, do you use extension mirrors of some kind ? If you do not use them, may I ask how wide your outfit is ?

<div style="line-height: 16.8px; : rgb248, 248, 252;">Thanks

Yes I tow with my DS4, I have a four berth caravan. It's a Lunar Venus 500/4 Miro 1008 and MTPLM 1190 and a payload 182. Had no problems what so ever, been to Cornwall this year 6 and a half hours good on fuel 30/32 mpg when towing. Plus you need towing mirrors by law.Edited by: gooney71

Gooney,

Thanks for that, yes I understand the need for mirrors, we have always used them for towing since we bought our caravan in 89, but what type / brand of extension mirrors do others use when towing with a DS4 - the ones we have used since 1989 certainly will not work on this car.

What model of 4 do you tow with ? is that 30 mpg with a petrol engine ?

It's the 2.0 diesel version, not the sport... It's 163bhp. The mirrors I bought are called sucked them and see, they have suction cups which you seal on each mirror. Never had any problems with them falling off. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00CBSWTOO/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1469732774&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=suck+it+and+see+towing+mirrors&dpPl=1&dpID=41I4nJ67EtL&ref=plSrchEdited by: gooney71

Thanks for that,

I am surprised about the fuel consumption though, hopefully with our van (fully ladened about 800kg) the economy will be greater - otherwise it will be back towing with our Xsara HDI

Hi All, I purchased my DS4 last year and the tow bar fitting is installed underneath the car including electrics, however the actual neck and ball is missing. It is the Westfalia removable one, part number 304148. To buy that piece alone you are looking at about £250!

I'm hoping that I can fit one for another vehicle as they all look to have the same fitment and you can get second hand ones on ebay for around £50.

Just wondering if anyone knew if this would work?

Adzyp,

The design of swan necks do appear similar but as the rears of cars vary you could find that attachments for variations of the same car could negate their fitment.

If you can find a pre-owned item of the same part number that would be a workable option, but not otherwise, sorry.

Does anybody already have the detachable Westfalia towbar fitted? Im just looking to find the 6 digit part number of the towball and not the full towbar kit itself. Looks like 304148 may be the number of the full kit hence the £250 price.<br style="font-family: "lucida grande", verdana, tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: normal;"><br style="font-family: "lucida grande", verdana, tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: normal;">I already have the bar so just need the detachable towball.
