Wouldn't have thought steering rack for that, sounds like you've been had.

Generally you'd be looking at suspension parts first, lower arms, ball joints, top mounts. Or could be engine mounts if it's only when first under load.

I was told my noise was steering rack issue, yet to me, the worst part of the knocking seems to be coming from the top left of the front, so the suspension mount , which you have to remove stuff to even get a look at.

I'd be more than annoyed if have to shell out for steering rack replacement (£1k plus?) if the fault was elsewhere and alot cheaper to put right.

Lucky for you then. But my repairs are coming out my own pocket so I want to be sure they replace things in order of less expensive first.

Must say I think the massage function on the front seats is the biggest waste of time going. If I could remove it and all the needless weight it carries I would do so. I would not waste a penny in getting it fixed if I were you.

Ok, you are the first who I have heard a positive comment about it - that said - if its both seats the function has gone on I would be looking at electrical supply issues like fuses or maybe a relay, if its just the one seat I would start by looking at maybe a broken wire? Perhaps unplug the power lead and check for avail able voltage, don't get mixed up with the airbag wiring though (usually yellow connectors I think)

That sounds like something mechanical has failed - I guess that will involve stripping the seat down to find out what and then ordering parts as needed - they will not be stock so will take a time to get. I think I would be inclined to look in breakers yards for a seat as the easiest/cheapest route. You would probably be able to pick up one where the airbags have gone off and raid it for parts. I've never quite figured out what they do, just seem to annoy me by moving the lumber support part around slowly.

Did they resolve the noise issue? My independent garage had mine in yesterday and insist it's steering rack, yet then said, if its still making a noise after then they'd need to be checking other things. I ain't committing to a £1200 repair if they're still not certain.

Anyone know of a Citroën independent specialist in North Derbyshire/South Yorkshire area?

Love this car but its breaking my bank!
