Or more precisely the chrome part.
I left car parked in sun, went to open the rear drivers side door, and heard a crunch!
Turns out on investigation the chrome part has come away from the rubbing strip (clearly the glue softened in the warm weather), and the strip caught the edge of the drivers door.
The damage- broken and bent chrome, and couple of tiny chips on the edge of the drivers door.
The chips were very small and I touched them in, as for the strip another thing to add to the list for my dealer to replace, along with fixing inoperable accesory socket(guessing its the fuse), and replacing scuffed door sill strip.
Hopefully all work they can do next Saturday morning.
