The folks at JD Power put a study together earlier this year in order to see how people felt about which pieces of new automotive technology. Strikingly, the second-most popular option was night vision, even if it's by no means the most useful system to have""¦

The most popular was still blind spot detection tech, then followed by night vision, enhanced collision mitigation system, the display for the rearview camera shown in the mirror and finally ""self-healing paint""� (which doesn't exist).

Jack,Like a few 'extras' blind spot detection will be compulsory (to get at least 4star nCAP rating) by 2017, along with an SOS button (which is already on current DS4.
People need to be careful what they wish for as Collision avoidance tech - including auto braking and radar cruise control can be a pain. I have these on another Citroen, a Grand Picasso and frankly I'm so disappointed. The safety margins cannot be overridden so the car wants to brake and throttle you with the seatbelt tightening when you come close to another vehicle, even though you are in control. The radar cruise wants to have aminimum gap of about 100yds at 70mph - you try to drive and overtake leaving that gap, without getting blocked, in or honked or trapped. Who is actually driving the car in these casesd? Some tech needs to be left off cars!!
